Vermont Grape & Wine Council Second Annual Conference

New, seasoned and aspiring growers and winemakers are invited to join featured speaker Tom Payette, a premier winemaking consultant with clients throughout the United States. His business advises clients on winery and vineyard start-ups and expansions, still and sparkling wine production and general winery issues. William Nail, a scientist at the Connecticut Agricultural Experimental Station will be addressing vineyard management, including cultivation of viniferous and cold climate grape cultivars.
Bob Lesnikoski, owner of Vermont Cranberry Company and a full-time winemaker at Boyden Valley Winery, will discuss his experience with marketing wines made from cold climate grapes . A member of the Vermont Fresh Network and a 2008 delegate to the biannual Terra Madre conference held in Torino, Italy, Lesnikoski brings not only expertise in winemaking but also in connection of local sustainable food production to local community.
Marsha Heath, of the Trade & Tobacco Bureau in Washington, D.C., will cover federal laws, labeling and compliance issues affecting winemakers.

Vermont Winery and Vineyard Open House Weekend

Mark your calendars! Members of the VT Grape and Wine Council are planning to hold the first ever Vermont Winery and Vineyard Open House Weekend. The Open House Weekend is a public celebration of Vermont made wines and an opportunity for the public to visit one or more vineyards or wineries throughout the state. Activities during Open House Weekend will be different at each site, so check with the vineyard or winery you plan to visit.

The 3rd Annual Vermont Life Wine & Harvest Festival is a weekend showcase for Vermont wines, Vermont specialty foods and artisans of all types celebrating the rich uniqueness, quality and ingenuity of Vermont producers.
