Mission

“Vermont is already producing lovely and sometimes profound wines and will without a doubt become an important wine region.”

Alice Feiring, THE FEIRING LINE

The Vermont Grape and Wine Council is made up of vineyards and wineries all dedicated to growing and making high quality Vermont wines that speak of our region.

This site is intended to connect and support our growing wine communty and to educate people on our regional grapes and the wines Vermont has to offer - from grape and fruit wines to mead and cider.

The VGWC is a non-profit cooperative program committed to the development and  promotion of Vermont as a wine region.

The purposes of the council are:

To promote the Vermont wine community in the state

To develop and grow the community through education to existing and potential growers and winemakers, to the local market and to visitors

To develop a wine region with a high quality agricultural product

To promote a regulatory climate to support our wine industry

Our agricutlural products are generally defined as grapes grown or produced in Vermont, or wine produced in the state from grapes, other fruits, or honey.
